Print on demand and dropshipping, honestly
How both models work, the real margins, and how to avoid the most common problems.

How they work
- Print on demand (POD): you upload a design; a print partner prints and ships each item when it sells (Printful, Printify and others).
- Dropshipping: a supplier ships products they stock straight to your buyer.
You never hold inventory, but you also do not control production or shipping speed.
Know your margin
Your profit is the sale price minus the supplier’s product and shipping cost, platform and payment fees, and any ad spend. Margins of 20% to 40% are common before ads, so ads can wipe out profit quickly. The Dropshipping & POD page in your dashboard has a calculator.
Order samples
Always order your own product first to check quality, print colours and delivery time. Use your own photos of the sample on your store page.
Be honest about shipping
Put real production and delivery times in your FAQ. Most refund requests come from slow shipping nobody warned the buyer about.
Avoid trademark trouble
Do not print brand names, logos, characters or song lyrics you do not have rights to. Original designs protect you from takedowns and refunds.
